When you think of a job within the Police Service, you immediately think of uniformed Police officers working on the beat. But there is so much more going on behind the scenes with hundreds of people working in police civilian jobs helping, in their way, to support the police.

The police support staff function as a fully integrated and essential part of the whole police system, without civilians contributing their skills in each area, from crime scene investigators and community support officers to administration assistance, the Police force would not be as efficient or effective.

Types of civilian police jobs
With over 500 different types of police support jobs across the UK, police civilians, now known as Police Support Staff, are required to support and facilitate the frontline policing.
